Part C to Part B: The Transition Process/De la Parte C a la Parte B: El proceso de transición
This presentation will explore the transition from Part C Services (Infants and Toddlers) to Part B Services (School-Based Services) for children who are turning three years old. We will cover the transition process, the available services, what to expect during this change, address frequently asked questions, and provide an opportunity for questions and answers.

Speakers:
Sara Charles has been a dedicated employee of MCPS for over 25 years. She currently holds the position of Program Support Specialist at the UpCounty Infants and Toddlers office. Sara began her career with MCPS as a first-grade teacher in 2007 and transitioned to the Infants and Toddlers program 18 years ago. In 2016, she took on her current role as Program Support Specialist at MCITP UpCounty.

Brigid Meyer began her career at MCPS in 2006 as a physical therapist within the Infants and Toddlers Program. In 2015, she transitioned to school-based physical therapy services, where she worked not only with the Preschool Education Program but also provided special education services for many students aged 3 to 21. Brigid returned to MCITP from 2019-2022. Brigid later obtained certification as a special education teacher and worked in an elementary school before taking on her current role as the Instructional Specialist in the Office of Special Education, Division of Prekindergarten, Programs and Services.

Esta presentación abordará la transición de los Servicios de la Parte C (Bebés y Niños Pequeños) a los Servicios de la Parte B (Servicios Escolares) para los niños que cumplen tres años. Cubriremos el proceso de transición, los servicios disponibles, qué esperar durante este cambio, responderemos preguntas frecuentes y ofreceremos una oportunidad para preguntas y respuestas.

Sara Charles ha sido una empleada dedicada de MCPS por más de 25 años. Actualmente ocupa el cargo de Especialista de Apoyo al Programa en la oficina de Bebés y Niños Pequeños de UpCounty. Brigid Meyer comenzó su carrera en MCPS en 2006 como fisioterapeuta en el Programa de Bebés y Niños Pequeños. En 2015, pasó a brindar servicios de fisioterapia en escuelas, donde trabajó no solo con el Programa de Educación Preescolar, sino que también brindó servicios de educación especial a muchos estudiantes de entre 3 y 21 años. Brigid regresó a MCITP de 2019 a 2022. Más adelante, obtuvo su certificación como maestra de educación especial y trabajó en una escuela primaria antes de asumir su cargo actual como Especialista de Instrucción en la Oficina de Educación Especial, División de Programas y Servicios de Prekindergarten.
