Outreach & Awareness
DSNMC welcomes with open arms all local families who have received either a prenatal or postnatal diagnosis of Down syndrome, as well as those who are new to the geographical area. DSNMC provides outreach to new parents after their birth of their child or after receiving a prenatal diagnosis.
This outreach, which includes phone calls and, upon availability, home visits, serves to provide information, resources and emotional support to parents. We provide a welcome bag with helpful resources, and link new families with other families who can provide friendship and guidance on their journey.
We hope that you will reach out to us. We would like to help you navigate these first days and weeks so you can come to experience the overwhelming joy and love that our children bring to our lives. To request a home or hospital visit from our New Family Coordinator, please email our New Family Outreach Committee Coordinator. Or, contact us by phone at 301-979-1112.
Assistance and resources for Spanish-speaking parents are also available.
