IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT THE 2020 TECHNIQUES FOR SUCCESS CONFERENCE
After careful consideration of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the planning committee of the Techniques for Success (TFS) Conference has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 conference.
The conference was created over ten years ago by a small group of parents to children with Down syndrome (DS) to increase the awareness of the needs of these students. Over the years it has grown to be an annual gathering of over 400 teachers, therapists, school personnel, and parents from across and beyond Maryland. Cancellation of this important event was not a decision made lightly but no doubt a correct one given the circumstances.
We recognize that the TFS Conference is not just an annual meeting that provides the latest information and useful strategies on working with students with DS and other disabilities, it creates a supportive space for people with a common interest. We have heard how this conference fosters collaborations across the disciplines and between the parents and the schools. We know how many of you return year after year, looking forward to catching up with friends and colleagues as well as making new connections. Our gathering supports you and your community in the important work you do.
There will not be a digital or virtual 2020 Conference to replace the canceled in-person event. This does not mean you are left with fewer options for support and learning. We encourage you to visit the websites of the three organizations that produce the TFS Conference: Chesapeake Down Syndrome Parent Group of the central Baltimore region, Family Resource, Information, & Education Network for Down Syndrome of Frederick County, and Down Syndrome Network of Montgomery County. You are welcome to join any and all activities that we are producing for our communities.
We are committed to a high-quality experience and are looking to an even bigger and better conference when we can meet again in person. We look forward with optimism to seeing you in 2021.
Stay safe and healthy.
